Single value can capacitor

It looks like it would be pretty easy to mount caps underneath chassis as an option.

Looks like plenty of room. Use one of the existing holes in the chassis to mount a terminal strip. The terminals of snap-in style caps are spaced about the same as the lugs on the strip. Leave the existing can for looks.

Would the one in pic work?
If the stock cap is rated at 500v I'd stick with that. Also, I tend to shy away from brands I've never heard of - especially some Chinese special from eBay. I'd suggest you use a well known brand (Nichicon, Panasonic, Cornell-Dublier for example) and buy from a major electronics distributor. I use Digi-Key mostly because, as I explained in an earlier post, you can get free shipping under certain conditions.

Any examples of what caps I would use if I wanted to restuff original can?

I'm not sure why you'd want to bother with restuffing a can when you can use a terminal strip and mount them underneath and leave the can alone to preserve the look. There is plenty of room. To each his own though. Just seems like an unnecessary complication to me.

Axials for this purpose are annoying. You'd want a radial cap for easier install. Also, I'd go with a real name brand, not Brand X from ebay. They aren't any more expensive for the real thing.

Any pics of examples of mounting terminal strip and using snap on caps? Something like this?

those look like standard radial caps. Snap-in usually have very short leads, meant to be just long enough to get through a circuit board. They're a little difficult to mount to terminal strips just for that reason. They make fine clamp mounted can caps with wire leads though.

Sure, that's the idea. The black caps in this pic are snap on Panasonics with their short tabs soldered to the terminal strip, which is hard to see. They do end up quite close to the strip but it works fine. The light blue caps are Xicon radials mounted to terminal strips. They have longer leads, like the ones in the photo you posted, which makes mounting a bit easier. If you're mounting 2 or more snap ons on the same strip you'll need to leave a blank tab between them to allow space for the bodies of the cap or you can mount them on opposite sides of the strip and use the shared tab as ground for the negative sides. You seem to already have holes in your chassis so it would be easy to attach a terminal strip without having to drill anything. Again, go back and find my post about free shipping from Digi-Key. A small parts order gets a lot more expensive when shipping is figured in.

Would it be possible to get two multi can caps to replace all four old ones? Replace C1-C4 with two new caps?

Nope. But you can do 3 of the DUAL 40uf JJ's to do C1, C2(A&B), C3(A&B). C4 A,B,&C are 20uf 100v so you could use 22uf 100v single's underneath. Mount all of these underneath. JB Weld on the tops of C1/C2/C3 and glue them to the chassis in clear areas, near the wiring to them. C4 individual's backtrack the wiring to either the source or the 1st component and mount there. See post 18.

Ive found a few pics of restores with the JJ cap and another option. Also Larry, about the jb weld, what exactly do you mean? Glue New JJ caps underneath chassis?

I think he means to cut the original can open, put new caps inside, and use JB Weld to put the can top back in place. I've done it with aluminum foil tape too, though to be perfectly honest I hate re-stuffing cans.

Actually either way would be ok. My thoughts were glue the JJ's by the tops to the chassis inside.
