SL-1300 & AT____ cart ?

Can you "barn find" your own turntable? I bought a Technics SL-1300 sometime in the mid/late 1970s. "Found" it earlier today when clearing out some cabinets. It has an Audio-Technica cart but there appear to be no obvious markings etc to identify the model. It has gold-ish and also a purple/pink-ish body. Anyone know a link to find out what this cartridge is...?

I believe I had a Shure V-15 Type III on a table before the Technics but I'll be damned if I recall what that table was!

This SL-1300 needs cleaning of the speed control. So, next I need to find a YouTube to see how to do that. Any experienced hands out there are welcome to coach me on these issues and what this thing may be worth now...???

The AT carts have their numbers on the top of the cartridge, so you will need to remove it from the headshell to see,

Possibly--my dexterity and eyesight make me NOT want to remove it unless there is a technical issue BUT it would be helpful to know whether I have it set at the proper tracking force! Let me see if I can upload a decent photo of mine...

I'm thinking my first turntable was stolen along with my Pioneer SX-838 (???) receiver--not sure if I really did have the Shure cart or if it was one I was hopeful of getting... I replaced the receiver with an SX-1010, wowser I wish I'd kept it...

Yup, AT14SA.

Tracking force of .75 to 1.75 so I would run it at 1.25 to 1.5 for starters.

my also retired original/bought new Technics SL-1300... it seems to only have a problem of NOT returning tone arm at end

The SL series were know to have an issue with the plastic gear cracking, I had it happen to a SL-1600 I had.

Thanks @Dswankey for your feedback... I had tried researching this and thought the most-discussed culprit in a 1300 for symptom seemed to be (I'll call it "petrified") grease on a piece that was performing mainly as a lever, I think... I should revisit that as I was up too late and memories aren't so clear.

HOWEVER, the true news is that just 20 minutes ago I realized the unit's Auto Start had not received my attention--so I gave that control a kick and she went to the earliest grooves of "Chicago Transit Authority" like (the first) Mayor Daley to a cash-soaked, smoke-filled room! So I picked up the arm and advanced it to the waning grooves and readied myself to handle the ending once again. HOWEVER, the 1300 auto return/off cycled correctly! Then, it did it once more! So either @Dswankey has a charm, or the 1300 just loves "Chicago"--or my Schiit Mani is a helpful Talisman (the only other thing I touched) PLUS, my strobe confirms dead-on speed still... Thinking I should buy a lottery ticket. Perhaps the grease has now freed-up???

AND GUESS WHAT ELSE? I stated much earlier in this thread that I wished I had kept my Pioneer SX-1010--I just found it a few days ago essentially right next to where the turntable had been... I would have sworn on the family bible that it was gone forever. So I already did some posting about it...

AND the icing on the cake? I also found my old Advent 201 cassette deck--it had been retired earlier than the rest and an NAD _______ took its place--but the Advent looks SO primo. I may have to spruce it up just as an art piece!

I quickly flipped one of this. Sold it locally for 225, no headshell/cartridge and cover. Not turning off is also a common issue of this table. Even when the arm returns the platter does not stop. Cleaning the old grease and re-lubricating everything did the trick. The reason I sold it is because I dont like the looks of it. Im into wooden plinth, but I prize the sound that comes out of this table.
