SL-1900 vs PL-41

I have an opportunity to pick up a technics sl-1900. If I were to do so, it would replace my Pioneer PL-41. Aside from the differences in functionality (SL-1900 being automatic, etc.) how do these two tables match up? I am only interested in sonic qualities...

*EDIT* I have heard the sl-1900 in a different system and it sounded good for what it was (hence my interest) but IMO the receiver and speakers in that set up were definitely the limiting factor...

I'd be leaning towards the PL-41 sonically. The PL-41 arm mates well with heavier trackers like a Denon DL-103.

+1 for the PL-41, although this is largely subjective. I've had considerable experience with Pios and Technics - I owned a PL-71 for quite a long time - and I'd consider the 41 superior. Many people may feel differently. They're different in their approach; either would do a good job.

Just my opinion, YMMV.

PL-41, great table with a lot of style. 1900 was entry level Technics.

The Technics SL-1900 is good, but not in the same class as the 1200-1800 models.

The PL-41 is a better table.

Years ago I "traded up" from a Pioneer PL12D to an SL1900. Big mistake. I should've kept the Pioneer!
Actually I think the 1900 would be fine to just play around with but not as a main table.

I would go so far as to say that the PL-41 is better than most of the Pioneer tables with the exception of a few.
