SL-D2 weak hinges

I have an SL-D2 with very weak hinges that no longer hold the dust cover up. Done a bunch of googling, but can't find any ideas for a homemade fix. Lots of threads out there mistakenly talk about broken cover tabs as if they were the hinges, but this problem is the plastic hinges themselves.

Any ideas on how to strengthen them?
