Slanted Cartridge?

Hi Guys,
I'm quite new here and relatively inexperienced in the world of turntable systems. I have two questions:
1. The sound on my all in one TEAC LP-P1000 is quite muffled when playing records... it doesn't sound as glamorous as when I first got it. I have bought a new needle as a result but is there anything else which would be the problem? As it is an all in one system I tried playing a CD to test the speakers and the sound is very clear.
2. I don't know if this is a problem or not but the cartridge on my turntable is at a very slight angle (i.e. it's slanted). There is a screw underneath but as it is a basic system I doubt it is possible to adjust this.

Well....someone has to say it.

I hope you haven't invested a lot in records or played treasured old favorites on this. If you leave the turntable out of the picture, it looks like a nice office or den stereo that has some fun features...the bluetooth lets you stream from your smartphone, it has a CD player and radio.

However...the turntable is....as bad or worse than the kind of turntables they put in all-in-one systems in the 1970's...the very units that this retro unit sort of emulates. In fact, if you look on Alibaba (a chinese import site), you can see this very unit available from other sources than Teac, who just badged it as their own. You may also not be aware that Teac is not the Teac of fame and years past...it's just another 'fallen flag' brand that someone bought the name rights to and is slapping on things. Other once-great stereo brands in this category are Jensen and Dual.

If it were me, I would not put any time or money into the turntable portion and just enjoy the rest of the features. It's all part of the world we live in today...disposable imported stuff.

Yep,mostly agree,but even the cheaper Japanese made music centres from the 70's/early 80's were well built therefore made to last and certainly wouldn't ruin your records.
 
Just be glad that the platter isn't warped. See a lot of those plastic-y turntables like that.
