Slight Problem with my Sansui FR-3080

So, I picked up a Sansui FR-3080 from the thrift store. Everything seems okay but there's one strange problem: when it auto-returns at the end of the record, the tonearm lifter doesn't come up in time. The tonearm does the returning, but it drags across the record for a few seconds before the arm lifter eventually comes up. I do not notice this problem when I use the "cut" function. I would open it up and take a look but I have no idea how to. Can somebody please help with any of this?

There should be a very small slotted screw below the lifting arm on vertical shaft loosen and adjust lifting arm up ever so slightly and tightening screw and test.
