Slightly Pushed In Dust Caps JBL 4311

Tapehead47 said:
I built the 'Budget' model in about 10 minutes. Don't forget my pending patent! Well, just look at the results!

Rick
How long did it take to empty the vodka bottle to get the cap...? :scratch2:

Well, I still can't see it after looking at all the attachments I included.

don't you know that vodka can add about $2,000 to your systems fidelity?

Hadn't heard that... :D

But, I did read about a JVC speaker, where they improved fidelity by making a wood (not paper, but FORMED WOOD) speaker cone SOAKED IN SAKE during the manufacturing process... :scratch2:

Gordon.

I prefer single malt Scotches myself. No throbbing hangover head in the morning... :thmbsp:

So, just to clarify, the final result is that you were never actually able to get that dust cap to pop out correctly, as shown in your final photo, eh?

Well....

They may not be 'correct', but they're a hell of a lot better than before, dontch think?

BTW I'm immune from hangovers.

Rick

LoL! Out of morbid curiosity, exactly how much vodka was utilized between the "before" shot in #9 and the suspiciously identical successful "after" shot in #20? :scratch2:

The pictures in #9, #11, and #20 are the same pic. #21's pic is the 'After'. The other pictures with the Mag-lite were for fun (didn't want to really gut my flashlight). The Mag-lite was the first tubular item laying around so I used it as a prop.

I searched around for some tubing but couldn't find any. So I cut the end off the cigar tube and....so on. The device with the cigar tube actually did the unpooching as described.

The 4th dustcap was a little stubborn and still has a slight dent. I'm afraid to mess with it any further.

I get a little mixed up when I upload pictures. Sometimes I forget to label them, or resize. There's no way to remove a selection once it's chosen, so I often seem to attach duplicate shots. When I Preview the post, it doesn't show the attachments. I can't be sure what I'm sending until the post is actually sent.

But the vacuum attachment actually did work.

Ah... ok... now I see...
The real "after" photo that should have been in your #20 was pulled down by the force of gravity and wound up in #21 posted by Zilch. Got it now... :thmbsp:

Good job, Rick! Time to celebrate, eh?

Get out of this one, Rick!

oh no...

Where's my hip boots...this is getting deeper. I just looked at post #21.

Duh.

Rick

The actual, real, taken by myself, unpooched dustcap

Okay....had to take another 'after' pic. I don't know what I was thinking when I quoted post #21. Sorry about that.

Rick

YES!!

Rick is certifiably unpoochified.

Anyone sacrificing that much vodka in the interest of sonic excellence deserves the fullest accolade of the AK forum....:bigok:

[NOW, if I could just get him properly unstackified.... :boink: ]
