SMAC January 2010

Will do Mr. Nagle.

I would also be interested in hearing the headphone output on the MAV. Will haul down my cans too!

I just brought the D1 into my office as I've been stuck on the computer for the last 4 days. I have Grado SR60 but never liked them much going directed into my laptop when I am on the road. Through the D1, it is night and day difference. They sound great. I'd like to hear better headphones as well.

Baltic Porter eh, I believe that Flying Dogs Gonzo Imperial Porter is actually considered a Baltic, and I am a big fan of that beer. I was going to offer to bring a couple pairs of RCA interconnects (Kimbers and Blue Heavens) or my DacMagic to compare to the Maverick Audio Dac, but maybe I will just bring my pint glass instead!

Seriously, I am really looking forward to hearing the Hawthorne Duet's. I was very impressed with Ashok's Silver Iris Solo's at AK fest.

Pint glasses welcome! I'm optimistic on the outcome so far. I gave the beer a taste when moving into the secondary fermenter, and it was pretty good. If I get it in the tank on Wednesday, it should be cold and carbonated by Saturday without any problems.

Don't forget

Don't Forget: the January 2010 SMAC is THIS Saturday the 30th from 1pm until 6pm.

See you there!

Jeff

mmmmm porter.

I've got a set of JBL l26 cabs with holes cut for JBL econowave horns I'd like to give away. setup for biamping, lpads in them, etc.

If anyone needs a set of free cabs for a project let me know. ... Condition is OK, not perfect.

Better hide that Porter Jerry!

Attached is a shot of how I have things set up. I moved the table against the wall to support equipment and make room. I'm not sure how many are planning to attend. Jeff mentioned attendance is normally in the neighborhood of 20ish throughout the day, so I planned accordingly.

Feel free to bring your choice of music (CD or vinyl). I have a few cases of beer plus pop and water available as well as a large crock of homemade chili, subs, chips, pretzels, etc. See ya tomorrow.

Jerry

Looks great Jerry. Promises to be a great time. Looking forward to it.

Any construction issues on I-75 south from Detroit to worry about - I know that some projects continue in spite of it being mid-winter here in Michigan. Gotta spend that stimulus money. :thmbsp:

Jeff,

I take 96 east to 75 south every day, and there are definitely no problems on I-75 south of 96. Smooth sailing.

I'm listening right now (and tasting the Baltic Porter), and the new set up sounds pretty good. Normally, I have everything on the other side of the room, but there wouldn't have been enough open space to allow people to spread out without a lot of awkward placement.

Also, I tried to keep the equipment open enough to make dropping in alternate components easy. Not the best visually, but very functional.

Looks great... See you all there..Looking forward to hearing the Hawthorne's again.

Thanks for hosting Jerry. Only wish we had more time with that gorgeous turntable !

Thank you Darrel Hawthorne for sharing your knowledge. Jerry, thanks for hosting, somehow staring at your Chior table made everything sound better.

Thanks Jerry for hosting a great meet. Good food, good drink and some great music. I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Thanks also to Darrel for providing a nice concise presentation on open baffle speakers and for answering all the questions from members!

Jeff

Jerry, thanks for hosting and thanks to Darrel for his presentation. I find the concept of OB speakers fascinating. After all these years hanging around box speakers I jsut can't seem to fathom how an OB works. Oh well, it's the sound that matters. Special thanks also to Jerry for a dram of the Nectar de Ciel. To quote Sam Tellig "Je ris mon rire mauvais."
