Smashed Cassette cases

I know that when dealing with vinyl the record jacket can sometimes be as important as the record itself... Is is the same with Cassettes? For example, today I found The Barenaked Ladies demo cassette from 1991 and the case was smashed... I found a spare clean case and swapped them out. Does this depreciate the cassette at all? I was thinking no as there isn't any artwork on the cases themselves nor any indicators to show how old the case is itself.

Seems to me what's important is the cardboard insert. The plastic clear case is just like a CD case, if it breaks you can transfer the insert to a new case and be done with it. Some MAY have some sort of logo in the mold like "CBS" or "Mowtown" but I have not noticed any. If they are out there, collectors will know and look for it, but 99 % of the normal people will never know the difference, even if it exists.
