sme 3009 ii on michell gyro se - alignment issue

Hi,
I have a sme 3009 ii improved tonearm with goldring 1042 cartridge on a Michell gyro se turntable.

After a house move, the arm seems to be all out of alignment and I can't seem to fix it.

Now when I play a record, the arm is rubbing against the outside edge of the record which make the arm skip and jump back when it gets about 2/3rds of the way through the LP.

Has anyone come up against this problem or knows how to fix it?

Any help would be very much appreciated :)

Do you have the paperwork on set up for the arm? Lots of adjustments to do. Get em a vinylengine, sign up log on find em in the SME library and download what you need. https://www.vinylengine.com/library/sme.shtml

The arm has dropped if it is rubbing on the record, needs to be raised up.

Most documented tonearm on the web, you should be able to find the manual and other info you need to fully set up the arm again in its new location. Better than just solving the problem as more adjustments could have been bumped during the move.

Download the owners manual. It's a straight forward tonearm with height adjustment by a set screw on the back at the base of the sliding mount plate. When you release it, the black pillar can slide up and down. Lock it back again when the height is adjusted. The arm-rest part with the dashpot on it is basically a big nut around the black pillar threads. It can be screwed up or down around the pillar and it too, is locked by a set screw. My guess is the TA just got slightly knocked sideways on it's axis while on the move. I can't get the complete picture by your description though. Posting a picture may sort that out.
 
Thanks Blue Shadow and Tom, I took your advice and all seems to be ok now. The arm must have indeed dropped so I moved the dashpot as suggested and was able to raise it. I'm sure that its not all as aligned as well as it could be but I'm very relieved that I can listen to music again!

Yes, I love my Michell and SME, great sound and a sight for sore eyes too :) I have a Rega Brio R integrated and Sjofn the clue speakers. Wouldn't mind an upgrade to something like one of those new Luxman integrated amps and a larger, more room filling pair of speakers one day if and when funds allow...
And yourself? What system do you listen to?
