Smetonearms.com

I recently sent my Sme 3009 s2 improved tonearm off to smetonearms.com for a rewire. But their rewire is more than just a rewire. They completely disassemble the arm, clean(acid bath), and replace any dried out rubber parts, damaged or missing parts, replace with stock or upgraded(your choice) then they rewire the arm with Cardis tonearm wire/cables. No more 4 pin or rca connection under the hood. One wire from end of arm to plugging into preamp!

The whole process took about a month and a half door to door. I got it back yesterday. I was expecting it to look better but not this nice. Wow, I had no idea that this tonearm could look like this. But the truly amazing thing is how it sounds. Take all of your favorite audiophile phrases and use them now. I mean holy cow! Best way to discribe it is, I cleaned dirty windows that I didn't know were dirty. Not just a little better but amazing. I felt it was working fine before. But like most of us thought a new "Space-ship" looking turntable and arm must be better than an old Thorens and Sme combo! I called Alfred at smetonearms.com and he assured me I would be very happy with the result. Well I am times ten. I have a vintage system. HK Citation ii, Eico hf-85 preamp, Seeburg Dds-1 speakers, Shure M97xe/sas. All gear updated and fresh. So I was not sure if I wanted to put a new modern/space age turntable into the mix. I'm so glad that I didn't.

It wasn't cheep. But certainly not new turntable and arm prices. Base price is $400 but I almost doubled that with some upgrades and some replacement parts that are not included in the price. If you're thinking about replacing your Sme set up with something, think twice. This is the way to go.

Communication, service, quality parts and work, all get 10 out of 10.

Thanks Alfred & crew.
