Snell Type C or Type D ?

A pair of original Snell Type C have come up for sale but they are an hour away. Can anyone compare their sound to my Type D's ? Would it be an upgrade or a lateral move or ?

I really like the sound of my Snell Type D's, but you know how it is, and Snells don't appear for sale very often in my area. Thanks. The photo I borrowed from the net.

I’ve owned the nonported “C’s”, one of the few speakers I would purchase again if given a chance.

Never heard the “D’s” though

I did a shoot out with some Infinity monitor II’s once,

The Infinity’s went a bit lower (12 woofer vs 10) and a bit higher with OHM Walsh tweeter, but everyone who listened to them picked the Snells,

And when asked why, almost unanimously said
“They just sound right”

I agree

Mine had the tweeter in the back as well, I’m not sure all “C’s” did.

It helped add a bit air to sound

have owned both. The older Cs are nice but the D is a better sounding speaker overall. Now if you can find a pair of the Snell C-Vs They would be better than both.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

The A7 and C/V look interesting as well!

EDIT: In case anyone here is looking, there is a Snell C/V surround system for sale on facebook marketplace in New Jersey. 1800 miles is a bit too far for me.
