Snell type E stands?

I am the original owner of a pair of Snell type EIV speakers. I love them.

I thought I read somewhere a while back that Snell offered a stand specifically for this model, but now I can't seem to find any info on it. Does anyone know if this is true?

Thanks!

Yes. They were a pair of five sided boxes painted black, and the speakers 'sat' into the open end. You could fill these bases with sand to make the assembly less top heavy, which is what I did with mine. I'm recalling they were 13" or 14" tall.

Great - thanks for the confirmation! I'll have to keep my eyes open for a pair of these.

I had a set of the Type E/III's with the stands for about 6-7 years. As I remember the stands raised the speakers 10" off the floor.

Thanks for the feedback nhparrot. The stands would certainly make the finished product quite tall. Interesting.

I had a set of EIVs which regrettably, I sold. I think Snell may still have stands in stock for the EIII. They did a couple of years ago. I talked to a long time Snell employee about another matter and asked about stands for the EIV. He pointed out that one of the "improvements" made on the EIV over the EIII was that the EIV was taller and didn't need a stand.

Yes, they certainly would not be difficult to duplicate with MDF or plywood and some primer/paint. I'll try sending Snell an email to see if they still happen to have any in stock.

i currently have my E-3s- atop an old pair of oak veneer Plateau stands i bought
with my mirage sm 2.5s in 1983 . about 11" height , 5 deg rake . work perfectly
in my room. any similar stands should be fine , but be sure to have some Fun-Tak
or other rubbery goop between cabinet and stand.... these E-types don't have a
10" woofer at the bottom, they're top heavy and could dance their way to the floor if driven hard.

I own E-IIIs and love them. Just had the drivers re-foamed and they're as good as new. I'm using sidewalk pavement slabs 12x12 and concrete footers which are about 10 inches high, from Home Depot. I think about $15.00 will get you stands for your Snells that way. May not be the best looking however. Industrial at best, but SOLID!!!!
