I have a plethora of choices locally and most look to be in good shape. Here are my choices....
Boston Acoustic vr30 w/vr10 $200
Focal Aria 926 $2000
Totem Acoustic Sttaf w/ Totem Tribe Center $800
Boston Acoustics A22 $120
Definitive technologies 8020ST and a CLR2002 center $275
I have a sb2000 pro sub but, looking to change my fronts (BA DV64' and Polk TSi300)...

Are you planning on using the speakers in a two-channel system or a multi-channel system?

After 20+ years in this hobby, I would state without hesitation, "GET THE BEST FIRST". Don't dabble with low/mid stuff IF you want great sound.

I did this, mostly because I love nearly everything audio related, and now I have a house full of stuff I cannot give away.

Now, if you like tinkering, experimenting, and the nuts and bolts of it all, jump right in.

Best wishes, and don't forget to have fun. We'll help all we can. Another seconding the Totems.

Focal Arias are expensive, but for good reason, IME. They just do everything well.

That said, are the Arias new? Because that's close to a new price for those (about $2800), and they're now discontinued, so pricing should drop a bit, even for a new pair. I would expect a used pair to be maybe half the price of retail.

Regards,
Gordon.

I've heard the Focals and agree with Gordon. They sounded so good to my ears, It makes me wonder why they make much more expensive speakers.

They would not embarrass themselves competing with speakers costing 2 - 3x their price. As with many larger speakers they probably need a large room however to sound their best.

$200 to $2000 is a pretty massive cost difference. No one knows your budget but you. If I was faced with that, I'd start with the lowest cost and only move up if I wasn't happy.

Choosing speakers is pretty much akin to choosing clothing. No one can usually convince you "what looks good" - you have to try them on yourself and look in the mirror.

I'm dabbling. Bought a pair of Boston Acoustics A22's. Kinda neat if you ask me. A little to bright or treblely though. As far as amp, I'm using an old SA- HE200. But I'm wanting to change that now. Time for upgrading before I kick the bucket. Where's the amp page?
