MC275 - $700 (original model taken out of service in Catholic school where it had driven an organ speaker during weekly assembly. Has Amphenol input jack in addition to RCAs that appears factory, not field mod.)

MC75 - free from a good friend who knew I needed one for center channel use.

MC30/pr. - $300 (they arrived via UPS wrapped in bath towels in the same box and were inexplicably not damaged!)

20W2/pr. - $300 (swapped EICO HF-89 for set, paid $300 for it)

C20 - $60 (Rochester, NH "Hosstraders" hamfest @ end of day. Seller had forgotten it in his van and I saw it when he was packing up!)

All of the above within the last 12 years.

Although I have been around McIntosh most of my life (my brother in law has owned, and still owns, a C-28, MC2250, and MCD7005), I just this year made my first McIntosh purchases and have not looked back - a C-39 (used as audio only in bedroom), an MC-7270 (paired with the C-39 in bedroom), and an MC-7200 for the mains in my theater system. Coincidentally, these Mac purchases were made since I discovered AK and I know I would never have invested in such gear had they not been recommended here and by the constant "pushing" members give you to buy the Mac gear :D

This Christmas I will be giving myself an MS300 CD server :banana: . Can't wait. Total cost is...well, it's a lot, but when you factor in the longevity of these pieces it really makes the cost over the years close to negligable.
 
MA6100 in 1973 for $599 + tax....

A year latter I had the C26 and MC2105 though..

20 BUCKS - MA230 with an MR67 at a yard sale. When I asked if they work I was told, "yeah, but it's full of static and you can't get tubes". He went on to say something about his Aiwa (I think) all in one being better. I think the Macs were a parents set up. Static turned out to be dirty volume pot and selector switch, strong RCA 7591's which are still going. MR67 worked perfectly (has since been aligned) Both units only a bit dusty both now look virtually new. I have since converted the MA230 to a stand alone amp. I was going to give the guy more money but because of his attitude he got what he asked for. I should have talked him down to 10 bucks. I had a feeling that he was such an imbicile that these would have gone to the dump.

MX110 499.00 in excellent condition driving the amp section of my MA230, very nice. the MR67 is currently used with my Scott 299C.

I got the MR67 & MA230 maybe 10 years ago. I was driving by and noticed that distinctive Mac look. I'll never forget that find. I already had a bunch of NOS 7591's for a Scott 340B that I discovered the same way a couple years earlier, I think I paid 15 for the Scott also in awesome condition.

when i had my Mcrig, I paid for my MC40's about 1400.00, the C32, 600? I dont remember exactly, and the Mr71 about 350.00 i think....not bad overall....

I am laying in wait quietly for my next Mcsetup.

I remember seeing tube equipment which people could not give away in the 80's, if I only knew.

To all the people who got great deals on vintage equipment, I'm so happy for you all! :) I have listened to many vintage McIntosh pieces, all the ones in good condition I heard gave 80%-90% performance of the new equipment for 10%-30% of the price. I have often thought I would have been better off buying the vintage equipment, but once I heard how good it could sound I was hooked and had to have that ever so expensive last 10%.

My first mcintosh a Ma-6100 off e-bay for 375.00 about 5 years ago got me hooked .A C-26 pre amp followed for 250.00 I had several different amps to hook it to. A set of ML-1C's from a friend for 20.00 sad they only had 1 org. speaker a woofer.A nice project .About two years ago I added a ma-230 for 500.00 w/ case in very nice shape .It sounds amazing with my empire 698 turntable for 10.00 and my klipsch kg-4's for 11.00 garage sale finds
 
First MC 30s were bought at a Military Surplus store for 50.00 each. That was 30 years ago however! I bought one of my MC 225s for 950.00 and the second for 1500.00. The first from a local vintage stereo shop and the second from Audio Classics. Also a MA 6100 for 250.00 and a MX 110 for 850.00.

Now planning on one MC402 and two MC252 to for power. Hurricane slowed me down a bit but not stopped me. Best thing about this whole ordeal was to return home and plug up and enjoy some great jazz and then a movie. Talk about stress relief!! A clean dry house in New Orleans area with pumping jazz.
 
<$200.00 (!!!) C28, MC2105, XR3

I saw the corner of the C28 sticking up out of a big donation pile at Goodwill. I asked the guy if I could look at it and he said would I please just take it, it was less stuff he had to mess with. He did have a lot of stuff and of course I'm always willing to help so I grabbed the C28. Under it was the 2105! The amp is missing its end-caps but other than that everything works great! I saw the XR-3s sitting next to a dumpster in an apartment complex months later and stopped (almost had a wreck) and made the grab. The money I have invested is some surrounds for the woofers/mids, and a checkup on the C28. TRUE STORY!!! Thrift stores are great 'round here, I also have a Stereotech receiver I bought for $30. :D :naughty: :banana:
 
Buying most of my stuff previously enjoyed, I still spent over 23 grand total. And thats just the Mc rack I have posted on here recently. There is a whole closet full of Marantz and McIntosh components and such that isn't included in there plus other Teac, Sony, Fisher, ESS, Pioneer, SAE and Mitsubishi equipment in there, or in various stages of usage around the house. I had to use a rented storage locker recently to clean out the closet and the guest room to make room for visiting relatives. Fortunatly my wife is very supportive, and shares my addiction.

soon i'll be at an MX-110 and mc-2100 for about 400$ canadian plus parts to fix the mx 110 up, then another 105 US for my altec w5's, and parts to fix them up, and 500$ for my 604-8g altecs.
