So what did you turn down lately?

I turned down a pair of Infinity bookshelf models. Later ones, not emit-powered, don't worry. I got a Marantz instead...

I turned down Led Zeppelin yesterday and Spoon today, because my wife got home and she just doesn't like it that loud.

A cheap built looking (mid/late 80's at a guess),Geneva/Tandy double cassette deck from an old friend on Friday. He wanted a tenner for it,but I just couldn't be bothered.

Sansui G 901 in as new condition - 850 euros. Some three years ago. I think the price was appropriate, anyway I had not the money at that moment.

I passed on a pair of Bozak 302a. Right in my neighborhood, too. I was pretty tempted, but they were a tad high price-wise, and I'm holding out for some Altec Valencia's or 19's or the like.

Goodwill local to my work had some vintage Sony speakers for 10 bucks, but they also had a set of Pinnacle PN8+ for the same price. I picked the Pinnacles. The Sonys did look nice, cabs were in good shape, but I had to make a choice. I think I made the right one this time.

My upgrade budget got diverted to help pay for a new roof, so I've passed on every audio component that's crossed my path in 2013. I'm still in Gear Reduction Mode anyway, so this may be a good thing.

I passed on a pair of KEF 104/2 speakers. I'm not too knowledgeable on KEFs so I don't feel too bad. I did however, pass the info/store location on to another AK'er int he area who picked them up and seems to be pretty happy with them.

A pair of JBL 4430s at an auction last weekend. Well, to be honest, I didn't turn them down; the bidding got past my means.

Two weekends ago, I passed on a pile of cassette decks, tuners, and an older CD player that I could have picked up cheap. I already had nicer versions of each, so why bother?

I turned down a Marantz 4400 on Bartertown.
Saw it 10 minutes after it went up,thought seriously about it, but I have too many Marantz's now.
Besides I knew bk would want it and didn't want to piss him off!:D

I turned down Led Zeppelin yesterday and Spoon today, because my wife got home and she just doesn't like it that loud.

Funny. Yeah, I turned down the radio yesterday when Stairway to Heaven came on. But I turned it back up when Halls of Karma by Black Oak Arkansas came on.

I turned down a blind date with a girl who said she's a cheerleader for the Chicago Bears. Considering they haven't had them since 1985 I got a bit suspicious.

Satan tempted me with a pair of beautiful wood grain B&W 683s at a store closing sale. Just too big.
Maybe I should go back for a smaller pair of 685s that I don't need either, but at least I can hide them.

The 685's are a pretty excellent speaker, though it definitely has a much more "modern" sound (which I'm personally fond of).

I saw a very nice sounding pair of BIG, highly modded 4 way Pioneer speakers at the FAC/SMAC Swap Meet Saturday that were being offered for $150. The builder was one of the local speaker gurus and he did quite a nice job with them.

Unfortunately, I need another set of speakers here like a need a hole in the head, especially a set that stands about 4 feet tall.

But they did sound very, very nice in the audition room....

maybe they ought to think about bringing the cheerleaders back to soldier field. 85 was the last good one.

i have turned down tons of decent fairly priced gear only because i didnt believe it to top what i already have. no hoarding for me.

There's been a pair of Infinity Reference 10's in need of a refoam at a thrift for a couple weeks now. Down to $5.99.

I just don't feel like shelling out more money to refoam them.

At least I think they're Reference 10. Haven't bothered to look again.

I passed on some DCM TF-400's for $35, but I know my TW-1's and definitely my TW-3's are better, and I really have no use for them, even though at that price I was really tempted, they'd just be another pair of unused speakers taking up my space.
