So, What do You call Your Mom?

Hehehehehe..If I'd ever called Winnie "Mother", she woulda thought Something Was Up...Or I was bein' a Smartazz again...She was a small person, I was always kinda BIG, I remember when I was 11, I could pick her up & carry her around on my hip...She'd be laughin' and squallin', "Put Me DOWN !!" I'd just grin & say, "Now, Winifred, HUSH !!" Aww, man, I'd give ANYTHING to do that again...Why am I sobbin' now ?!?
 
I always called her Mom and she always called me Son. I miss her a lot this time of year.
 
I used to call mine mom too.
She passed away a long time ago too, I really miss Her around this time of year.
 
Another "Dead" here.

But when I talk to others about theirs I use "Mum". As in "How's your mum?"
 
I call my mother "Ma". She going to be 90 next spring. She has a heavy English accent and when she calls my name it sounds like "Row-bert". :)
 
Mama when I'm discussing her in a public or professional setting. Its a warm and loving reference without making myself sound like a mommy's boy :D
 
We called our parents by their first names for our first several years of life, until we moved to a town where we had relatives who were appalled that my parents allowed that. So we were approaching 10 when we had a discussion and had to choose what to call them, so it became "Mom" and "Dad", but we often used "Pa" and "Ma", informally in conversation.

That anyone would be appalled by children on a first-name basis with parents seems silly in retrospect.
 
Mom is gone now, but Mom was the term we used. If we slipped and said Maa she would get all upset. She would say, " don't call me Maaa I'm not some old woman' :) Miss dear old Mom even after all these years.
 
When my wife's daughter had her 1st one, they said they were gonna call me, since I wasn't any kin to the kid, "Mr Geiger"...I'm APPALLED at being called "Mister Geiger", that's my Dad or my Papaw, who's dead...I am SANDY, dammitt..
