So you know you’ve gone too far…..

…when you’ve been away from home for a week and can’t actually remember which pre amp you have installed.

I’ve been away a lot recently….disaster season has become all year long it seems.

I was just texting with a buddy and realized I can’t remember which pre I have running in the office system.

Sigh.

Ah,just a bad memory or to many other things on your mind.
You've gone to far when your leaving home for a week and take a system with you :rflmao:

It is a first world ‘problem’ to be sure. I usually know what I have.

I’ve spent the last year comparing different amps with the monoblocks in the office. I’ve kept two as potential candidates but for a while there I couldn’t remember if I’d kept the Yamaha or the Sony and if I’d swapped it back in or left the Technics.

I rarely change gear. So that will never happen to me.

I did a lot of gear swapping 30+ years ago. However, I've never collected gear, especially speakers. I've been a planar fan boy since 1976. That sort of restricts me. I don't have the storage space for multiple pairs of "door" sized speakers. Today I have my system and a couple of spares (preamp, power amps) but no spare speakers.

I have two full systems each with tt, pre, power, R2R and cd. The office also has a dac. I have one set of mid size floors in the living room and a set of bookshelves in the office. I have one spare tt.

If I wasn’t currently chasing solid state as a pre I wouldn’t even have the two other amps.

Although I posted in a joking way about the gear I’m pretty sure the problem has nothing to do with too much gear and more to say about my memory and how it works in general.
