ReVox A77 offered in San Diego - seller is trying to run an auction to some extent, but might be a good chance to bag this deck for cheap:

I wouldn't give his asking of 195 EACH for ALL of those decks and the speakers. That's why it has been posted so much.

We have a few clueless and persistent CL'ers around here. They just repeatedly post their $350 R-R that is worth maybe $90.

I know... but you'd be surprised how often all it takes is one person that contacts the seller and makes a reasonable offer, and says all the right things in addition. I've ended up with gear that way that had been sitting on CL for months. Occasionally sellers are more concerned with finding the right buyer than they are with getting the highest price.

In this case I suspect the particular models either aren't that appealing and haven't generated any decent offers, or the seller is being unreasonable or inflexible on their ask price in which case they'll be there 6 months from now.

Only threw that one in for variety, the other two machines were a lot more interesting for sure. That Akai deal is the best of the bunch, if that stack of reels is all Maxell it's worth the guy's asking price and then some, the deck itself would end up a freebie.

I would not spend over $200 dollars for any tape deck unless it is a Revox, Technics,Otari in good shape. A decent Akai GX-630d maybe....well I did pay $200 for mine lol. Tape decks are just too risky to spend alot of money on. Oh and the Pioneers....

10.5" open reel Akai deck, AND 20 metal reels of tape, at least some Maxell? Have you looked at what tapes are selling for these days?

As for not paying more than $200 due to "risk", I'll drop $500 on a solid Tandberg deck all day long... just did, in fact - a mint one-owner 3014 - and I'll probably go back for the TD20A at the same price. Both machines are worth more than double that, in the right condition and in the right hands. Not everything good in life is going to be found at Goodwill or a thrift shop for $5.

Jeez... you guys are cheaper than I thought!

John

Yeah you're right the Akai is a nice deal for someone. I kinda overlooked/ignored that one.
