Solderless RCA Plugs?

Just a quick question,has anyone ever used solderless RCA plugs?How did that work out for you?I have never had a soldering iron,nor had I ever had speaker cables without RCA plugs before,so I am a total noob at this.Also,does it matter which side of the cables you put the red or white ones on?

Those things with retaining screws? Inferior contact. Besides, you'd need to braid and tin the wire before wrapping it around the screw. Might as well solder and get it done...right.
 
I've used them.
The screws are utilized for mechanical attachment, and to hold the wires in place while being properly soldered.
 
Color code is standard, but not to everyone,,, I use Red for hot and Black for ground,,, sometimes Red for Right side hot, and White for Left hot,,, usually black for ground, tho...
That's how a lot of teh pre made cables are made...

OK then,what would you say about hooking speaker cables up to the back of the speakers,with no RCA plugs at all?
 
Bare stranded wire around a binding post or screw is iffy at best,,, loose strands touching something they shouldn't will short out, maybe taking a OPT or output transistor with it,,, If you aren't going to at least tin teh ends with solder,, use crimp on terminals...
