Solid State 7000 by Sansui?

Anyone know what bulbs it takes? I ran into a guy today that owns one with the backlights out - took it to a local place that couldn't find the rating to replace the bulbs. If I could offer him a solution that'd be nice.

It`s been nearly six month since my last post on the 7000. Since then it has been sitting in my stereo graveyard. I retrived it today from the graveyard to see if I could do anything with it. If not, probably sell it on eBay for parts or a fix it. Checked it out and the same things were still present. So, I googled on the net for any info I could find about it and came up with a specs sheet. I found an interesting thing. It seems that it has a switch on the back to changes the watts from 70 to 35 per left and right[called a power limiter]. I had not noticed that before. Then a light went off in my head! Could the contacts be dirty? Could this be the reason for all the trouble I was having? Surely it could not be anything as simple as that. So I took the little piece out and cleaned it and spraped DeoxIT in both the 70/35 watt holes. Guess what? It was something that simple. IT WORKS JUST GREAT!!!!
Go figure! I`ve been listening to it for 2 hours and not one time has it cut out/off or any of the other problems it was having. If I sell it on eBay now I`ll be able to get more for it. I have had a good day.

Congrats. It always feels good to revive one. I hadn't noticed the power limiter. I never heard of a function like that. It's good to know.

Well...,I`m back to square one. Turned the 7000 on to make one last check of it`s performance before putting it on eBay and....,yes the problem is back. Poping/cracking and channel going in and out/ volume up and down. It really pops and cracks when turning it on and off[even with the volume cut all the way down]. I`m grad it happened before I got it listed on eBay. Even worse what if I had already sold it? I`m not going to list it on eBay for parts or fix it up.
I would like to thank everyone that tried to help we with is 7000 six months ago when I first got it. I just don`t know that much about receivers to fix it myself and I don`t care that much about Sansuis to put out alot of money to have it fixed. I mean no offence to Sansui owners. I`m just more of a Pioneer fan.

TankDonovan. I have followed your post re the 7000 , I have one as well that I use daily and it is a good unit even though they have no protection circuits at all .
If you decide to put it out to pasture please let me know as I would love to have a parts unit as backup , thanks , Gary .
Hi Deadear...
I have a 7000 that I fished out of my stockpile if you are interested...it is missing the usual button sticker`s and all the quick fuse holder`s on the back...it is cosmetically fair ...I just have too many unit`s at this time and need to thin thing`s out...I have no idea what it is worth...Thank`s

Tankdonovan, several people have expressed an interest in this receiver in this thread, so if you do not plan on keeping it, PLEASE contact one of them first, and add my name to the list of interested parties in the event that one of those folks doesn't want it.

It seems a bit rude to me to solicit advice on this forum regarding your 7000 and, when other AK'ers express interest in it, to ignore them and instead head for the Mother of Greed, Ebay instead. But, that's just me, and it's your receiver...

I still have the receiver. I have not listed it on eBay. It has a problem as I`m sure you have read. One reason I didn`t say anything about selling it is that several people on AK have asked about it and I would not know who to sell it to. Another reason for being reluctant to sell is the shipping. Very hard to ship heavy items. And in it`s condition I would not know what to ask. I did not mean to offend anyone on AK. Maybe I`ll re-think the matter of selling on AK.

Sansuigeek has one he will part with.
