Solid State fisher receivers

Any appreciation for the Emerson fishers? I just picked up a 295 for relatively cheap. Only needed clean up and LED's. Vintage 72 or there about. 35 watts and sounds as good or better than my Kenwood 4070. To my ears anyway

My parents bought a 440T brand new before my time; I remember it seeming like magic as a kid in the 1970s. They got rid of it when a channel went out years later and replaced it with an overseas unit from a box store. I hunted down another 440T for nostalgia's sake in the pre-internet days, though as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, I decided that if I'm going to invest $$ into maintaining a vintage receiver, it would need to have tubes in it. It's curious to me that these late-60s solid state units fetch close to the same prices as the 400/500 tube receivers these days.

I was raised listening to a Fisher 200T driving XP-7s. It was 1969 and I was 9 years old, boy do I have fond memories of those years…
I still have my dad’s 200T, I should do a full service on the power supply and other caps but it still marches on. I was amazed when I saw the sockets for the transistors on the preamp section. Build quality was nice to see…

Not my Fisher setup but this is a dream Fisher setup for me. Mine is a lonely CA800 with a matching tuner and cassette deck. It came with a pair of DS825 speakers that were sold new with the system.I only paid $20 for it all. So that's a hard-to-pass-up deal. My Fisher setup doesn't sound bad by any means and most of all it sounds good to me.

That is the exact same system I started out with, some time in the early '80's. I bought it at Macy's, and I paid right around $800 for it, at least. Times change, eh?

Jumping in the Fisher SS ring. Here's my rs-2010 all freshened up. It replaced my beloved Pioneer sx-880. That's up for sale now, as this beast cranks, AND sounds wonderful! The tuner on this pulls in stations WITHOUT an antenna, the pioneer cant pull in with one.Im shocked at how cheap these rs series are. I probably will be building a custom wood cover for it with some 5/8's walnut I have laying around.
