Some changes to my main system

Here’s some new photos of my listening space. Over the past few weeks, I’ve added an MC 2155 power amp, a C 27 preamp and as of yesterday, a pair of XR 16 speakers that I picked up from Audio Classics. After just a few hours with the XR 16’s, I’m truly impressed. Prior to this I had been using an MC 2505 / C 26 combo with ML 10C speakers with the MQ 101. This is a major step up in every way and I’m loving it so far.

So here’s the full setup:
McIntosh MC 2155 power amp
McIntosh C 27 preamp
McIntosh XR 16 speakers
Linn LP12 turntable fitted with Linn Ittok arm
Linn Lingo outboard power supply
Denon DCD 800 CD player
Denon DN 790R cassette deck
Nakamichi 580 M cassette deck

I gotta wonder what the 2155 actually put out on the bench RMS-8ohms? Probably around a good 200wpc or so.

Most Mc amps I've had on the bench from that era produce around 30% more that rated power at rated THD...

Very Nice mwo1268 ! I was looking at those speakers myself but the wifey said nope..no more speakers. You need a plush lazy boy chair in there .

My wife made me promise I would trade something in in exchange for getting these. I ended up trading in my ML 10 C speakers and MQ 101 equalizer. I’m taking up enough space in the closet with old audio gear, lol!! It was a worthwhile trade though. I’m loving these XR 16’s so far. On Day 3 I’m really starting to fall in love. They sound great at both louder and lower volumes and the soundstage is just jaw dropping once you get the positioning right.

Pretty much spot on. A/C tested my 2155 @ 195 wpc. FWIW.

Very nice looking and I bet sounding setup. I've always wanted a pair of 10C's since they first came out. Just never got around to getting a pair for one reason or another. I like the wall decor also. You know what they say "A guy who likes The Who can't be all bad" Seriously though enjoy your system and have a Merry Christmas/ Happy New Year.

One Mc owner mentioned being grateful for McIntosh's consistent styling. Since products appeared so similar, upgrades would always escape the notice of "she who must be obeyed".
