Some info about KLH/Advent

OK I pulled out the old advents (old for me) they are the newer Advents 4002 and the Advent/1's I always thought the /1's with the dome tweeter was the better sounding (chasing technology?). Retied now have more time to listen not only that but more time away from industrial noise .The fried egg tweeter sound much better in the 4002's even than the ones I have in the bull-nose NLA. This inspired me to test them against the KLH 5's. Testing with the 5's on the right and the 4002's on the left. The highs from the 4002's sounded better to start with but with more critical listening the 4002's are way too harsh. Switched sides and the same thing playing them as pairs same thing. I never thought the 5's had really good high end but now I'm not so sure. Any one else find that with more time, what is good becomes bad? I was using the same set of source music for all test. All these have recapped crossovers.

Not sure if you even need "time" to sort all that out. Add an A/B switching mechanism of some kind and you can quickly prove what you were hearing; speakers competing for the same form factor, say Dynaco A25s vs The Smaller Advents - will have their own "color" for the same source because of efficiencies and drivers.
I have a cheap ABCD switch that is now a permanent fixture so that I can switch out pairs based on listening volume and/or music or TV.

I'm a little confused- the 4002's don't have "fried egg" tweeters, they should have Jensen 1" soft domes. The Advent/1 should have a fried egg tweeter.

I have 4002's and KLH Model 23's. I think the Advents sound better to me, but the KLH 23's are no slouches. They are both great examples of vintage 2 way speakers.
