Somebody got hosed...bid

Might be shilling. A user sells across accounts to each other but the money ends up back in his hands, and then the cycle repeats. The item never really sells until he's done it enough to increase the perceived average value. Some also do it to drive prices down. It's dirty either way.

I'm not sure if they can do that on shopgoodwill or not. Maybe someone just got carried away.

Winning bid: $405.44

'Nuclear Proxy' meets 'Nuclear Snipe'.

High bidder threw in a high proxy ('Nuclear proxy') and was sitting at 168.99, with a proxy bid of $404.44. He wanted to be sure he got it. Last bidder (not really sniping, fifteen minutes before auction closes) threw in a high snipe, to make sure he got it, something above $405.44. Bidding software chews through the second-high bidder's proxy, and leaves the high bidder sitting at $405.44.

Second-last bidder was very lucky this other fool came along. First rule of bidding, bid your absolute max. (Bid once, and bid as late as you can are the other two.)

Unless the winner really didn't mind paying over 4 bills for that amp...

Nice that Goodwill got some money for one of their items instead of having to give it away to those that are unwilling to accept fair prices for gear when the money goes to Goodwill programs. Let's hope this item gets paid for and works perfectly for the new owner.
