Caught the Keith Richards interview on NPR this morning, he was quite engaging and interesting. They played his version of Goodnight Irene at the end, which brought back memories of my dad, who sang it often.

I have no idea which version dad knew; Leadbelly? The Weavers? Dunno, but a great song has a life of its own. As a kid, I always wondered about these lines:

Sometimes I lives in the country
Sometimes I lives in town
Sometimes I take a great notion
To jump into the river an’ drown

Ken Kesey named a novel after them. Keith does a great version.

By far, Kesey's magnum opus. It puts Cuckoo's Nest in the shade. It changed my whole appreciation of what new things could be done in the interior structure of a novel in the hands of a genius.

The movie SUCKED!!!!!!! Great stars all giving the worst performances of their lives. Kesey made them change the name of the film to "Never Give An Inch".
 
Ahhh yeah definitely the Movie of SAGN sucked!
Agree its Kesey's Opus...beautifully written...could not put it down...the words just flow on and on...
