Got a Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 that works in direct mode only.
Before I delve into it, it would be nice to have a service manual or a schematic at least.
Are they still in business?

My understanding is SF was acquired by Paradigm, which is still in business.

Back in the day I had an SFL-1 and their (SF) tech support was outstanding. Hopefully they (Paradigm) integrated some of the staff from SF and possibly if you contact them they might have archives of old SF equipment

Some time ago I needed a schematic for Sonic Frontiers SFS-40 which was the companion poweramp to SFL-1. I asked Parconnexion’s customer service if they had it. Victoria Switzer (CFO and sales), put me in contact with Chris Johnson who kindly emailed me the schematic. Chris was co-founder and President of Sonic Frontiers.

Good luck! I hope you could find your SFL-1 schematic this way if other approaches fail.

Yeah, I would contact PartsConnexion. A couple of the original Sonic Frotiers partners were running that company. I have had several conversations (years ago) WIth Chris Johnson who was one of the originals.

Ha I was typing at the same time you were @spantou01

Unless I'm mistaken, Parts Connexion sold those units and may still offer support.

I have done business with Parts Connexion for years. I've been on their mailing list forever... I should have remembered the Connexion (pun intended)
Guess I'm getting old.

I had the SFL1 Signature Preamp.

Can you describe what its doing in Normal mode? There is only 4 active devices per channel in this design, Q1, Q2, D1 and D2.

Q1 is a J271 Jfet and Q2 is a IRF730 Mosfet.
D1 is a 1N4148 Diode and D2 is a 1N4744A Zener Diode 15V.

Have you tried a Good 12AT7 tube?

The power supply is pretty straight forward with Film caps in it.
