Hi, I hope someone with knowledge of the Sonos Port might be able to provide an answer. I'm thinking of adding a Port to my system, in order to sync it up with some Sonos players in other parts of the house. I'm in a bit of a quandary how I would connect it. As I see it, there are two options:
1. Sonos recommended method: Set my turntable (Denon DP-300F) on preamp mode, and plug it into the Port. Port, in turn plugs into the auxiliary input in my Marantz 2245. This would seem to me to be defeating the purpose of a dedicated turntable input in the receiver, and possibly corrupting the analog signal by passing it through a digital device. However, I don't know if the Port simply passes the analog signal along, while only applying digitization to the "extracted" signal it sends out to the network.
2. Maybe a better method?: Connect turntable to the Marantz in the usual way, and connect the preamp out from the receiver into the Port input. I already have my pre-out connected to the pre-in with a Y connector that also sends the pre-out signal to my subwoofer. Can I add yet another Y into the mix to also send the signal to the Port? Would this be taxing the amp in some way? Would it possibly create some kind of weird feedback loop to have both the Port's input and outputs connected to the receiver, even though they wouldn't in practice be used at the same time?
Any answers to these questions, or other solutions, will be greatly appreciated. TIA!
