Sonus Faber Venere 1.5

That wasn't the point and I don't disagree with you. The point is that the Chameleon line is advertised as made in Italy when it is actually just assembled there.

Yeah, you'd think they would just make that line in China. Maybe they think the made in Italy thing is really important to their consumer base and that the line would do poorly without it. Or they are having issues with China assembly? Isn't the Venere S assembled in Italy? Who knows...

I was kind of surprised that the Curv woofer was made in China, I thought for sure it was a variant of the Seas Curv woofer, but hey now Seas is owned by the Chinese as well!

Yes, the Venere S is advertised as made in Italy. Fine Sounds probably suffered some backlash from old school SF fans about the made in China Venere line. Too bad because there are many folks that believe that along with the Olympica line SF has finally found a sound that gives homage to the traditional SF sound while moving in to the next century in terms of timing and swing.

I'm curious Art, did you listen to the 2.0's before settling on the 1.5s? I'm curious if you heard them and how much difference is there between them. What reviews I can find are good. I'm going to listen to both Saturday. But it will be in store and probably an Arcam IA.

I didn't listen to either of them. I generally prefer the presentation of the standmount with the smaller midrange driver. Also looks better on the dedicated stand.

I understand. I tend to prefer the bigger drivers. You don't often buy speakers without hearing them first. Are you still enjoying the,?

There are actually quite a number of reviews and they are a former Absolute Sound POY. Pretty special speaker...as special as the LS50, I dunno.

Very true. I just thought this one was interesting because it's an interview with the designer. Are you bi wiring your speakers? Going to Best Buy Magnolia in the morning to hear them.

No, not biwiring. Just didn't feel like buying more cable. It would be far better to hear them at home.

Yes, yes you are right. Best Buy doesn't allow for in home demos without purchasing them first. I'll get a listen just to get a taste. Should I decide to buy a pair, I'll get them from Music Direct. They have a 60 day return policy.

I'm with you Art, don't want buy more cables.

I got a listen to the 1.5's yesterday. Not the idea listening setup at Best Buy. They are definetly front row sounding. Very "live" sounding. The amp was a Rotel IA with 150 watts. I'm not familiar with Rotel, so I have no idea how much it influenced the sound. Gonna have to get a pair in my listening space to compare with the LS50's. The only that's really keeping me from ordering a pair is having to purchases the stands also. Just more work in setup and tear down should I decide to return them. Art, are the stands as difficult to assemble as I've read? I here the instructions are terrible.

They might have taken 10 to 15 min per speaker to put together if you are handy at all you will have no problem :)

Also I bi wired mine but I'm not sure it made a difference looks cool thou.

Anyway best of luck to you.

Art, are the stands as difficult to assemble as I've read? I here the instructions are terrible.

No. The moron who wrote that (and I read it as well) would probably have trouble assembling IKEA furniture. I was near to having my surgery and not at 100% (or even 50%) and I found it quite easy and had it done in a matter of minutes. You just have think it through before doing it.

Order the speakers today now have to order the stands tomorrow. Couldn't find them on the website. Should be an interesting shootout between the 1.5s and LS50s.
