Greetings AK members,
Long story short: recapped a 3200F for a client and sounded/worked great. It was then sold to another person and unfortunately faced a 'kiss of death' situation (speaker wire touching). As expected, outputs blown. Replaced all 4 2SD340's with MJ21194G. DBT still suggested a dead short. Then discovered a 2SC1431 on one channel of the power board was shot. Replaced with same (both channels). Still bright light on DBT. Next, I eventually found the 2SC1124 transistor in the protection circuit to be faulty. Replaced with a 2SC2690 (B and C pins inverted). Still a dead short somewhere per the DBT. I tested pretty much every component on the power board and power supply board and couldn't find any other culprit. If anyone has an idea of where I should go back and re-check, that would be welcome. I am thinking otherwise of replacing every transistor and diode on the power board... painful, but.
