Sony APM-22ES Speakers

Anyone know anything about these small Sony ES speakers. They have flat square drivers (APM apparently stands for Accurate Pistonic Motion, whatever that means). They have beautiful rounded wood cabinets, cast aluminum driver frames, and look to be high quality (Sony ES, after all). There's a little about them at The Vintage Knob, but it's kind of vague.

Opinions about sound, collectibility, etc appreciated.

Collect-ability is probably low.

I owned a set with their matching stands. Heavy. Sound good.
It's a smallish bookshelf and present well on the stands. But a bigger speaker will beat it.
High quality construction, and as I said, good sound.

What's the price they are offered at?

I have a pair of 22ES's that I got pretty much for the oddness factor. They are the low end of Sony's high end APM speaker line but sound pretty decent all things considered. They are vinyl covered, not veneer - or at least mine are as I think they were also available in black. The thing to watch out for is over driving them because the tweeters are prone to getting fried due to a low crossover point Sony had to implement to get around a design problem with the woofers. If you are going to get them make sure both tweeters are working.

$130 for a bunch of stuff, most which I don't want. The APMs intrigued me, however. I'll probably pass.
