Sony CDP-203ES vs Sony CDP-710 vs Sony CDP-970

Hello! I just purchased a rare(?) Sony CDP-203ES CD player. I heard that ES stands for Elevated Standard, meaning that they should be a bit better than non-ES -products. I googled a bit and found out that there is Sony CDP-203 and Sony CDP-203ES. What are the differences? And could I get better sound with more expensive Sony CDP-970, for example?
