Sony CDP-3000/CDS-3000 combo yard sale find

I picked up a Sony CDP-3000 player and CDS-3000 controller at a yard sale today for $5. They both need a good cleaning, and both power up. I need a 15 pin cable to attach the units. Date of manufacture is May, 1987.Anyone know where I can find one?

I can find no information about these pieces here, or on the web. It appears to be a broadcast or studio unit. Is anyone familiar with these?

Thanks!

Ken

You want Sony Professional:
http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusiness/markets/10013/market_10013.shtml
Use the Contact Us form and tell them what you want. They will respond in a day or 2. They were very helpful with my DTC-1000ES. The guy e-mailed me the adjustment procedure from the service manual. I used to have their phone number but I don't know what I did with it. If you can solder, maybe they will give you the wiring diagram for the cables, then you can buy some DB-9 and DB-15 connectors from Digikey, and some multi-conductor cable, and make your own.

I won't know until I get the correct 16 pin cable to hook them together.

The search begins...

:boring: I guess I didn't catch that. Too busy looking at the pics  I hope you find that cable!

Thanks! This transport is built like a brick. I hope I can get it up and running.

Urizen,

The CDP/CDS-3000 represented Sony's 2nd gen' of professional players, after the original 1982 CDP-5000(S) ; introduced in mid 1984 in Japan, 1985 elsewhere, and contemporary from Philips' LHH 2000 monster.

You'll find some nudies of the CDP at Stein's homepage: http://home.online.no/~stolest/cdspillere.cfm

Yes... the CDP-3000, like the original CDP-5000(S), uses what was 20 years later tagged by Sony's marketing deptartment as "FPM": Fixed Pickup Mechanism - the laser block is fixed to the chassis and the disc moves across it while spinning.
