Sony CDP X-111ES: Need some help please

I found a Sony CDP X-111ES at an estate sale today. It was marked $65 but I got it for $5 because it has an issue.

When a CD is loaded, the drawer automatically re-opens without reading the disc. The open/close button also won't close the drawer. It needs to be nudged.

I've fixed a lot of turntables, but don't know much about getting under the hood of a CD player.

Hope there is a simple fix so I can get this thing playing. Any help out there? Thanks

Not an expert, but the first thing I'd check is the open/close button to ensure it's not stuck in the closed (i.e. pressed) position. Maybe disconnect it temporarily, if you can do so without damage.

Your drawer and clamp belts are stretched out. The slipping triggers a re open command.
Replace the belts, you’ll be golden I’m thinking.

That wouldn't explain why the open/close button doesn't work.
I don’t think the button is an issue. I think the motor spins on a stretched belt and the drawer stays put. Those old belts get a “v” channel in them at the small pulley end and combined with the stretching and hardening of the rubber, it gets stuck. Notice he says something about nudging the drawer after pressing the button to make it move.
