I'm building a 2 channel listening system. Have a Sony DVP-NS900V DVD/SACD/CD player sitting in the closet gathering dust, probably bought it back in 2000 or 2001. Anyone have any experience with how this unit might sound as a Hi-Fi source compared to modern day good quality CD players?

I have the same unit and I can't hear any difference from my NAD 541i. OK the NAD isn't the last word in digital sources but it was very highly regarded by all the magazines and sounds very good to me. This weekend I'm going to put the Sony in my 2 channel rig so I can enjoy concert dvds and 2 channel SACD.

Used this as my main source for quite some time. While excellent sounding, it can sound a bit analytical and cold at times with certain types of music. A matter of taste I guess.

Loved it nonetheless and still do, although I only use it for DVD's and SACD's now.
