Sony E200ESD Pre Amplifier Question.

I have read conflicting things on the internet. Bet you've never heard that one before!
Anyway, I understand that the signals entering at the analog inputs pass through the Sony's E2000ESD analog-to-digital (A/D) converters before being processed. That sucks, however, there is a Source Direct button! Will this bypass the Analog to Digital conversion? Is there any way to bypass the A/D?

Why do I ask? There's one near me and I'm considering it for a second system. I spin a lot of vinyl and would like a more pure path.

Why buy the preamp if you are going to bypass the heart of it? It puts things into the digital domain for its parametric EQ and surround modes. There are plenty of pure analog preamps out there in the world that would fit your needs perfectly.

Analog signals (Phono, tuner , tape and aux) remain in analog format. Any signal coming in over Digital inputs will be sent thru the dsp. This is main difference between 2000, and 1000. I have used the 2000 and it is very good analog preamp. Have one available

Thanks for the info everybody! It's good to know that I can use with a pure path for records and use the parametric EQ with CDs.

For CDs it's great. I only want to bypass it for playing records. I'm not anti-digital at all. I have a ton of CDs I like to play, but the idea of converting analog to digital like that is something I'd rather avoid if I can.
