SONY Esprit 3

I was a young guy when I go to Hi-Fi shops to see the news and gather some catalogs. In the 90`s, in a SONY catalog I see what I was thinking till that moment, (lol) the most amazing desing in speakers aside of the Nautilus that was launched around that time. That was the SONY SS-R 70 ES or Esprit Nº 3 by the japanese designer Atsushi Kawase from Kawase Desing Studio, Japan. There's little to no info about that speakers but I still love the desing. I want to know if anyone have today or has in the past that speakers and also what do you think about it. Here are some links an a pic.

Very modern look to those.
I wonder if other colors were an option.

All the pics I saw are that color. I saw it open in the back and at least, looks like was painted in the MDF wood but looks like the front can be plastic? no idea. Repair manual can't be seen clear too. I love the desing and would be cool make a pair.

Have a pair of these, acquired in 2013.
No plastic all wood, black high gloss lacker on the sides.
Orange is a wrinkle paint effect.
Fairly heavy 46Kg/100lbs

Sounds great and have a unusual design.

Very cool! They sporting 8 or 10 inch woofers? Passive on the back it looks like too!

I will try to get pictures, they are currently stored in a box room...behind rows of boxes.
Have not played them since 2016, that's when they went into storage.
Reason for that was downsizing(from house to apartment), and I can´t sell something as unique as these speakers.
They are equipped with an odd size woofers 8.5" or 9" if I am not mistaken.
Midrange is a Coaxial 6.5" woofer with a 1" tweeter, then 2x1" super tweeters...not that my ears pick up that frequency today
I am not sure if the internal woofer is passive or not, have not removed the woofers from the cabinets, maybe I did way back but I don't remember today.

Nice to know! No matter if is a late reply. Will be amazing have hi res pics of that speakers. You are right, best stored than sell it.
