Sony HMP-70 Help

Hi,
I recently picked up this awesome all in one Sony HMP-70 system. I have cleaned it myself and everything works fine except a few problems.

1. Left channel speakers do not work. Both speakers work when I switch to mono. Is the left channel fuse out and recs for repair or self trouble shooting?

2. Turn table dust cover does not stay up. Spring looks new and strong. How do I fix it?

3. Table sits on springs. There were some old deteriorated cork inserts in the springs I had to discard. Does the spring have to have any insert or shock absorbers?

4. Missing transit screws and mounting screws. Necessary and what size replacement. Screen shot of online manual but does not say what size screws.

I'll try to answer your questions:

1. I don't remember the fuse configuration but yes, check for a blown one. If it blows again you will need some electronics skills to diagnose. It also could be just dirty switches or controls. Have you used Deoxit or similar on them yet?

2. It's a heavy cover. The springs aren't adjustable but you might be able to shim or wedge something in between the hinges and the back of the plinth to make it lean back a bit more, past the balance point.

3. The springs will benefit from jamming a small block (about a 1" cube) cut from a sponge inside them. It will stiffen them up a bit

4. Neither screw type is absolutely necessary. The transit screws are usually something like an M6 coarse but I'm just guessing. I don't know the other, just that it's smaller.

Thanks for the help. I tried cleaning the controls but no luck. I'll try the shim idea. I decided to use cork wine bottle cap cut to size for the spring, works good.
