Odd question but wondering if something like this is possible. I have a drawer loading Sony turntable from this line and it can be operated with a remote control if linked to a Sony AM/FM Tuner via a cable. I would like to use such remote capabilities but really do not want the extra component. Does anyone know how these linked remote sensors work and if it is possible to perhaps rip a sensor or board it is attached to from such a Tuner/receiver and perhaps power it from a small power supply? My thoughts on this are because I have a Nakamichi cassette deck which uses a wired remote but can use an IR remote due to a third party box which is connected to the wired remote box and can accept IR signals and converts them to what the Nakamichi is expecting.
The Sony isn't exactly high end or close to it but was wondering if what receives the IR signal on the Sony box and communicates it to the cable requires the entire unit.
