Sony PS-FL77 Turntable cartridge and Arm HELP!

Hello

Just got myself a Sony PS-FL77 biotracer arm turntable made in mid 80s and I have noticed the following problems:

1. The stylus is missing :tears:. Does this mean a new cartridge or can I get replacement stylus for it?
2. the tracer arm is stuck doesn't go anywhere but does attempt to s seems the motor is ok. Is this a more dismantle and relube case?

The drawer opens and closes fine and the table spins okay at both speeds.

Please help I need this up and running asap.

The replacement stylus for your cartridge should still be available. If you have the original Sony cartridge on it (XL250G) the stylus is available from a number of sources, here for instance. Check for any markings on the stylus to ID it.

This is a pretty complex turntable with three microprocessor controlled motors. There could be any number of reasons why the arm doesn't move. It's going to take some diagnosis to determine the cause. It might be just a case of cleaning and lubing. A good place to start is to go to the VinylEngine and download the service manual for the PS-FL77. You will need to register for the site but it's free.
