Sony PS-LX3 : P-Mount or 1/2 inch ?

I'm interested in upgrading the cartridge on my Sony PS-LX3 , but it seems the headshell is proprietary in nature . Been kind of hard to find out the compatibility . Any answers would be greatly appreciated .

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

The headshell looks like a standard Sony straight tone arm headshell for 1/2 inch cartridge.

See page six of the service manual:

You may be able to upgrade the existing cartridge by going to a finer replacement stylus. :idea:
 
1/2 inch cartridge. pmount will TECHNICALLY fit, but it may sit too tall. What is on there now? Easiest thing to do is upgrade the stylus
