Sony PS-LX7 general /restoration/ problems

Hello all,

i have many issues with Sony PS-LX7. It turns, locks speed, buttons are responsive. But tonearm is not moving because belt is stretched. Size light is not on also. Does it stay on always, or its shut down when its not needed? Main problem is that cant lower arm to touch record. Does anyone know, have same unit, have any idea,... does it lower tone arm with mechanism which is moved with that belt assembly.
Somewhere i read that it can be used manually if belt is not on, but no one mentioned rising and placing down arm. Can it be that mine unit stuck in some spot that does not allow it to go further down?
Also, for me its almost impossible to find belt, so i need quite time to order it from abroad.
If anyone has service manual to share, that would be great also.

Any thoughts, ideas or whatever could help. Thank you in advance.

Hello all,

many thnx for your help. If someone have same unit with same (most likely) problems, here is where i ordered part and restored this unit. I did complete cleaning, lubricating, calibrating and now it works totally fine.

As for bulb for sensors which detect vinyl record size, for me it was impossible to find original 8v 50mA, so i found next best match.

4mm Bulb 9V

It works really fine, glow kinda orange-ish, which i prefer. And it does the work.

For small belt story, that was strange, since i cant find service manual and dont know belt size i ordered 10, 12 and 13mm belts from great eBay vendor. It seems 13mm forks fine, 15mm its too big. I could not find sizes between.

DeckTech 1.2mm Square Drive Belt

There was also some plastic "fetch hand" part on main gear broken. I had to glue that. Its function is to pickup tonearm from resting position. Its poorly made leaving actual thin old plastic to act as a spring. Drop of hot glue did a job. It seems it hold.

TT works fine now,... maybe that tonearm motor is bit too loud, but i cant say is it normal or not.

Only issue i have now is that i have 50hz buzz from speaker. Its faint but its there. I think its Rifa capacitor bad and needs replacement. Sadly i need to source that also and marking on it is disintegrated.
Once more, if anyone can share service manual for this i would really appreciate.
