Sony PS-T33 Tone Arm Drop

Hey all.

Working on a Sony table that is dropping the tone arm pretty violently due to lack of damping fluid.

I have removed the little black rotating push rod and cleaned it and the brass plate it puts pressure against and reapplied some 500k silicone oil, but the tone arm is still dropping violently with no change.

Must the whole assembly be removed and this applied within the well of the rod that lifts the tone arm lifter?

Rod usually has groves that hold the fluid.

No grooves in my black rod that pushed against the metal plate.

Almost like it was missing a chunk of the plastic but not a groove that looks like it would act as a reservoir.

Gonna walk away from this one.

Everything else is working but I just don't seem to see what's missing here.

I've tried bending the metal pieces slightly to apply more tension with but no real effect. Best I can do is get it to stay up and not drop.

Shame, decent table otherwise.

Edit : All in all it's safe to operate as long as one is careful with the tonearm drop. I did run into a problem with speed that drove me nuts until it clicked that it was only in 33 mode. After replacing the trimmer speed is rock solid w/ all of the automatic functions working.
