Sony PS-X5 Turntable Cartridge

I have recently acquired a Sony PS-X5 Turntable in great shape. It seems to work perfectly so far. I am a NOOB on AK and was hoping somebody could help in recommending a good cartridge for the Sony TT. I currently have a Shure MX97xE and it sounds good, but I was wondering if there might be a better cartridge for it or does the MX97 pretty much max out the TT's capabilities. I would appreciate any advice.

What's your price range?

The M97Xe is a good cart. I'd also consider the following in the approx. $125-$200 range-

Grado Gold, Audio Technica AT440MLa, Denon DL-110 and 160, Nagaoaka MP-11, Ortofon 2m Blue and Red.


Deeper pockets than that? There's plenty more goodies.:scratch2:
 
Thanks thedelihaus for the reply. My pockets are not real deep, and I would like to stay within the $125 to $200 price range. Would the ones you recommended outperform the M97xE?
 
I think the world of that Sony table- it's a fantastic performing deck.

Yes- all those should prove a level higher.

Also consider the Stanton 680/881 series. I forgot that one. Doh!

All you need to do is to remove the present stylus and replace it with the SAS stylus.:music:
