Sony PS-X600 Auto Drop Issues

I am hoping somebody can help me with my auto drop issues on the Sony PSX 600 turntable. At times it drops correctly at the start of the record other times it sets too far in. I have downloaded the service manual which describes turning the adjustment screw but it will not turn far enough to correct the drop location. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

have you re-capped the table? If its not dropping correctly only part of the time, may not be an adjustment issue. could be a cold solder joint or some other cause. the X600 is a nice table and pretty reliable once gone through.
 
This is a new table for me and I have not replaced any capacitors. Do you think that could be it? Any specific ones or do the whole thing?
 
A recap could be in order, if the PS-X600 hasn't been in use for an extended period I would allow more time for the functions to return to normal, overall the PS-X600 although quite complicated tended to be very reliable.
 
Old thread, but if you're still around did you ever figure this out? My tonearm is dropping pretty erratically.
