SONY PS-X7 sometimes stopping mid-play

Hello AK,

I have a Sony PS-X7 that I recently acquired and repaired. Everything is now working perfectly except that it would *sometimes* stop mid-play playing and the tonearm returns to its rest..

I know there's a light with a shutter to detect the end of the record but if it was wrongly placed it wouldn't allow the record to play ok 95% of the time, would it?

Would it be possible something wrong with the start/stop touch switch circuits? Would it be possible it bypasses with some finger grease?!

I'm a bit talking to myself but I have time..

I'm now thinking it could be related with those caps C416 or C417? Someone to tell me otherwise?

I tried the procedure to adjust the return position from the service manual but I believe it might have to do with caps that can fail..

Anyways. If someone can give me another input I'd like to know what you think.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was with your X7?

Just got one and after recapping the control board the end-of-record auto return is AWOL. If you hit the start/stop button the arm lifts/returns, so it's a sensor related problem. Done the VR401 adjustment 3 times and have the right voltages with the arm in both positions. So either the sensor isn't initiating the signal to the solenoid... or something.

I know your return was working at the wrong time, but still interested to see how it was resolved.

Al llevar el brazo manualmente al final del disco este regresa solo???, de no hacerlo comprobar el sensor,
El ajuste del final del disco se puede ajustar con el tornillo que está bajo el brazo con solo desenroscar un poco la pata se puede ver , este tornillo permite ajuste pero el brazo cuando llega a 56,6mm final del disco el sensor actúa directamente sobre el retorno

Se olvidó decirte que el circuito del PL1 {1-519-152-00}+ (lámpara Pilot 6v 100mA) tiene la R448 [1-206-642-11]+(120 2w metal oxide) como protección "fusible" comprueba con el polímetro, también tienes el transistor Q418 (2SC634A)
