I wonder if,in the time it's taken to get your reply Stoffie,if some enterprising AKer in the same area hasn't used his post to snatch the prize.
Time will tell.

The thought had not occured to me, but hey, so be it then. The rules of capitalism apply here as well :D

haha nope, ive already made arrangements to go pick it up. I had already found that page you linked. is it ranked #1 or is that just the first one on that list. What makes it such a great turntable? besides that page i havent really found much else. how much would someone normally pay for such a TT?

Well done.
When you get it in your hands.
There are a couple of other Sony turntables which may have it's measure for sound quality.

This one:

Or the Sony PS-X9

ive got it, and it works! man it sounds good, i need to check what cartridge is on it i suppose. anybody know good cartridges for this tt?

If you paid $55 for it and it's in any kind of good condition, you got an incredible bargain. I've seen these babies going in the four figure range recently on eBay. Often considered THE best commercially-available Sony turntable (only the professional-model PS-X9 is more sought after—it now goes for $4K or so). If you find it's more turntable than you need, professionally-refurbish it, put it up for sale on eBay or Audiogon and use the money to buy your dream amp or speakers (in the $1K+ range). Or keep it for a few years and then buy your dream amp or speakers (in the $2/3K range). If you sell and have to ship, package it like you're shipping a dozen eggs (or better yet several antique crystal vases) across country (lots of explicit instructions online).

Otherwise enjoy, you've got one of the finest classic (obtainium) turntables ever offered for sale.

wow i feel awesome, i thought i was crazy driving an hour and a half, now i realize i wouldve been crazy not to. now i own a turntable thats worth more then my car! :)
