I've picked up this Sony HiFi RX100AV, from around 1998, 1999 the other day for free.
The unit itself has seen better days, the front panel (and metal cover) have been scraped & bent in several places, but overall it does seem to be working. CD changer had to be cleaned & rebuilt, tray belt replaced (also took the liberty of replacing the other one, for the CD "turntable" just in case.
The only serious issue was with the tape decks, both of them were seized up & not working. So I took the mechanism apart & replaced all 4 belts (2 for each), but as it turned out the left deck has busted door hinges so it's pretty much useless. Can be loaded (and used), but it's quite tricky & not worth the hassle IMO. Nevertheless, both decks are now fully operational & have functional auto reverse, so I might even eventually use them, we'll see.
But the real reason I've picked it up was because of the amp, it has 3 separate speaker outputs, for the front, center and rear, along with separate woofer output jack. Therefore it has a great potential for upgrades down the road
