Sony SB-5335 system selector

Dual Trouble

New Member
Hi Audiokarma folks,
Anyone familiar with the Sony SB-5335 System Selector? I have an opportunity to buy one, and really like it, but can't find enough information on it to see if it is what I hope it is. According to what I can find, you can have up to 3 turntables, 3 tuners, 3 tape decks of various types and 3 preamps. Now I'm not sure if 3 preamps include receivers, and I also do not know if you can set the balance, bass, treble, etc, as that is usually within the preamp stage, not the amp part.

It also can hook up to 6 pairs of speakers, but can only play 2 pair at a time. With 2 pair, one pair has to be in the # 1 section of the speaker hookups, and the other can be any of the other, but only 2 pair total. The only other system selector I've heard of is the Pioneer U-24 Program Selector, so really limited on the knowledge here.

Thanks for looking in,

Robert

I've known this selector from Sony since the late 70's, when audio stores used it to demonstrate different speakers or tape decks. The choice was easier, because with the same amplifier we could choose the speakers that we liked the most. This was in the good old days of audio. If you have a lot of tape decks, several speakers etc, it is a very versatile device and not very easy to find.
