Sony SDC-CE775 SACD/CD player questions

Got seems be in good condition Sony SDC-CE775
Seems to be working fine !

But is was sitting for quite long in someones basement so I wondering what I have to pay attention to?
Also I saw some ppl in the past been doing upgrades to these devices, but no details ! Any ideas what can be improved ?

Oh and one more:
Can this thing play CD-Rs and ripped SACDs on DVD-R ?
I can test myself but do not have such discs handy at the moment.

It will play CD-Rs.

It will not read DVD (any format of DVD).

Yes Now I confirmed that it will read CD-R for sure.
Not SACD image on DVD-R
But SACD and DVD using the same laser, so technically they are same media, but may be for DVD-R laser has to be stronger.
